Star Studded Saturday

This week’s theme is: Love comes softly movie series review

Welcome to part 2 of this series review. You can check out part one here. This is a Christian romance/drama series that follows one family throughout but focuses on one family member at a time usually. I recently watched the entire series from the beginning and wanted to share my thoughts on each movie. I also plan on reading the books at some point so can’t wait to compare notes. (link to book series written by Janette Oke)

*Clicking each photo will take you to it’s IMDb page*

Love Takes Wing Poster

So…one thing I don’t like about this series is the constantly changing of cast members. For example, in this one Belinda was blonde….in the previous two movies she had dark, black hair. Obviously they changed actresses but you’d think they would at least keep the same hair color for that character. Also can they not offer contracts to these actors and actresses so they stay on for the duration? -Rant over-

In this we see Belinda making her way in a new town. She’s a doctor now and trying to convince everyone she’s just as qualified as a man to do her job. This one was tough to watch because of the meanness displayed by some characters. It’s hard to imagine the hatred that some people have, especially towards children. Overall, I enjoyed this movie but I feel the story lines are getting a bit repetitive.

Love Finds a Home Poster

Not my favorite if i’m being honest. I didn’t care for Belinda and this one focuses on her again. It’s okay to be a strong woman but it’s also okay to let people help you and be there for you.

Love Begins Poster

I didn’t realize this was the story of the patriarch for this entire series. LOL. She said something Clark Davis and I went wait a second……I loved that they gave us a prequel and let us learn about a younger Clark. The actor who played him was Wes Brown. I have a HUGE crush on him so was pleasantly surprised to see him!! I really enjoyed this movie and the story. Can’t wait for the next one which is a continuation.

Love's Resounding Courage Poster

I liked the message behind this one. God didn’t say it would be easy, he said he would be by your side through it all.

Love's Christmas Journey Poster

Sadly, I didn’t enjoy seeing this side of the family lol!! Instead of following Missy and her lineage, we followed Aaron and Ellie. Aaron was the child of Marty and Ellie was the child of Marty and Clark. ((Super confusing even for me)) First off, this was three hours long. I don’t care what the movie is about…three hours is too long. It drug on and on. I thought it would never end lol!!! I also felt it was unnecessary overall but that’s just my opinion. The bright side was having Dylan Bryce on the cast *swoons*.

I’ve finally done it!!!! I watched every movie in this series. WOOT WOOT!! It took awhile but it was worth it in the end. I enjoyed this series for the most part and hope to read the book series one day.

What he always knew by Kandi Steiner Review and Release Blitz

What He Always Knew by Kandi Steiner
Release Date: March 29th, 2018
What He Doesn’t Know Duet, book 2
Genre: Contemporary Romance

WHAK cover FINAL_1

Left or right.

It’s that simple, and it isn’t simple at all.

If I turn left, the road will lead me back to the man I promised my life to, the one I’d imagined building a family with, the one who’s done everything in his power to get me back.

If I turn right, the road will take me to the man I loved first, the man who brought me back to life, the man who would do anything to keep me.

I knew the fork in the road was inevitable; it was the decision I never wanted to make between choices I didn’t know I had.

And I love them both.

My heart is destined to exist in two equal halves — one with each man. But one half beats stronger, the vein running deepest, and holds my choice in silence long before I know it for myself.

The realization of what I have to do, of the heart I have to break, just might break mine too.

Left or right.

All I have to do is take a breath and turn.

I’m so glad I decided to try this author!!! I fell in love with this duet and the author’s writing. This definitely won’t be the last book I read by Kandi Steiner.

I just want to say that I was Team Cameron. I loved that man so much!! I connected with him early on in book one of this duet. I could feel how he wanted to express his thoughts and feelings but just didn’t know how to do so verbally. Cameron showed his love in his actions. It wasn’t that he was trying to buy Charlie’s love, it’s just the way he expresses himself.

This book was hard in the sense that I felt Charlie’s division between the two men. I could feel her being torn in half. I felt her trying to make the best decision and to not hurt anyone even though it was inevitable. Charlie was such an amazing character. I truly enjoyed the times we spent in her POV. It made me appreciate her more and more.

I won’t get into spoilers or tell you what the end result was. I will say to me, it felt like Reese saw Charlie as a price to be won. It wasn’t so much his deep love for her as it was he wanted her and someone else had her. It felt very surface level, puppy love if you will. I just didn’t connect with Reese as well as I did Cameron. I truly felt the bond with Cameron and Charlie. Their road trip together was one of my favorite scenes.

At the end, Charlie’s message to both of the guys was spot on. I got emotional as she was talking to them because you just got this overwhelming sense of emotion. It was like being there in that moment watching it happen as if you were a fly on the wall. I very much enjoyed this series. I hope you all enjoy it too.

About the Author:

Kandi Steiner is a Creative Writing and Advertising/Public Relations graduate from the University of Central Florida living in Tampa. Kandi works full time as a social media specialist, but also works part time as a Zumba fitness instructor and blackjack dealer.

Kandi started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.” She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a die hard hopeless romantic (like most girls brought up on Disney movies).

When Kandi isn’t working or writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys beach days, movie marathons, live music, craft beer and sweet wine – not necessarily in that order.

Bad Business by Nicole Edwards Review

Bad Business (Bad Boys of Sports, #2)

Bad Business by Nicole Edwards

5 Stars

*I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher in exchange for an honest review.*

HOT, HOT, HOT!!!! Wooo….*fans self* Be prepared for the steaminess that comes with this one, it also had an amazing story with it. Savannah is the daughter of the owner for the Dallas Wranglers’. Jason Stone is the star quarterback for the Wranglers’. Cue the fireworks and chemistry.

These two were drawn together like moths to a flame. They had such a strong connection to each other from the get go. I loved watching their relationship grow more and more with every page. They’re both truly awesome people and I’m so happy they found each other.

Jason Stone was such a refreshing character. He wasn’t this immature man who made bad decisions at every turn. This was a man who was focused and steady. He was this calm, collected guy who weighed everything out before acting on it. It was so nice to read about a male character like this because it hardly happens (at least in my experience). He definitely made the list of book boyfriends quite quickly. I love that he had this alpha, confident personality while still having a softer , approachable side. I’m a fan…what can I say?!

Savannah Andrews…..such a fierce woman!!! I loved her personality and how she worked her way to the position she had (executive vice president, as well as chief public relations officer) and didn’t use her father’s influence. She was another character who was focused and driven. I loved that both main characters had a career that they thrived in and still made time for a relationship.

I was sad when I came to the end of this book. I want MORE!!! I’m hoping this isn’t the last from these characters. I enjoyed reading their story and love finding a new author to love.

The Beauty of Darkness by Mary E Pearson Review

The Beauty of Darkness (The Remnant Chronicles, #3)

The Beauty of Darkness by Mary E Pearson

5 Stars

This is going to be one of the hardest reviews I’ve ever written. It was just SO GOOD. What do I say?! How do I tell you about the awesomeness of this story and its series?? How do I convey this story’s magic without spoiling the surprises for you?

First off, this group of characters just blew me away. I loved the good guys as well as the bad guys. They each made such a lasting impression on me. I felt like I knew them personally. The author truly brought these characters to life and I’m forever grateful to have “met” them.

I loved watching our main character Lia grow and find herself. You could see from book to book the woman she was becoming….the leader she was becoming. I rooted so hard for this girl. I wanted her to succeed in everything she put her mind to. Lia had a heart of gold. She just wanted everyone to be treated properly and to have a fair shot at life. Man, isn’t that the ultimate dream right there? I loved watching her stand up for those without a voice, for those who needed a champion to fight for them. It was truly something special to behold.

This book held so much within its 679 pages. We saw hardships, love, sacrifice, friendships, and everything in between. The camaraderie of this group is something I can’t stress enough. They truly became family. One I desperately wanted to join in on haha!!

Overall, this series is something you will enjoy. I have no doubt in that! I will not hesitate to pick up anything this author writes. I hope she writes 800 spin offs for this particular series. I could read an entire book on any one of the characters from this series. I just need more time with them and this world. I never want it to end.

I have so much more I want to say but I do not want to spoil this book/series for you. Pick it up and fall in love just like I did 🙂
