Star Studded Saturday

This week’s theme is: TV Season Reviews

Mom Poster

Mom Season 4:

I felt this season went by really fast. That’s probably because I binge watched the entire season on Hulu but STILL!!! I was a bit disappointed with the season finale. It felt like any other episode. I’m used to season finales having a cliffhanger or something dramatic happening. With that being said, I still loved this season as usual. Can’t wait for season 5 to start!

The Mindy Project Poster

Mindy Project Season 6:

I don’t think the majority of shows know what to do with a happy couple. They don’t seem to realize you can be in a committed relationship and still have problems. The thing is, you work through them. Most shows have a couple get together at a finale and by the next season premiere, they’re broken up or fighting constantly. I loved the finale episode for the most part but would’ve liked something different for Mindy. BUT I’m okay with the ending overall. It’s really hard to say goodbye to this series. I’ll definitely miss it.

The Last Ship Poster

The Last Ship Season 4:

This show has grown season by season. Each season was better than the last. However, season 4 couldn’t compare to season 3. I lovedddd season 3 so much and had high hopes for season 4. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed it but just didn’t have the WOW factor from the previous year.

The Bold Type Poster

The Bold Type Season 1:

First of all, FRIENDSHIP GOALS. The friendship in this series is off the charts. I love their closeness and their ability to tell each other every single thing. It’s amazing! I need a friendship like that please! This show follows 3 girls Sutton, Jane, and Kat as they work together at a fashion magazine called Scarlet. They each have their own personality and I always have trouble deciding on whose my favorite. This series is fun and lighthearted but at the same time carries some depth to it. Do yourself a favor a pick up this series!! It’s so good! Plus it was renewed for not just one more season but two!

Have you tried any of these shows? What did you think? Let me know in the comments below! Have a great day!!!

The Fall Book Tag

I was tagged by Danielle at The Introverted Book Nerd and Nicole at Boundless Bookaholic. Thanks for the tag girls!!! This book tag was created by Shanah from Bionic Book Worm.

fall tag 1

The Jewel (The Lone City, #1)

The Jewel by Amy Ewing

This story felt very fresh and unique. I don’t recall any other books like this one but maybe I just haven’t come across them yet. This story is about girls being raised and trained to be surrogates for the “upper class/royalty”.

fall tag 2

Empire of Storms (Throne of Glass, #5)

Empire of Storms by Sarah J Maas

That ending though. I won’t discuss it because spoilers but……wow.

fall tag 5

Stars Above (The Lunar Chronicles, #4.5)

Stars Above by Marissa Meyer

I’m specifically referring to the last novella in this bind-up. It was perfection and absolutely beautiful. If you haven’t read it….please do! It wraps up the entire Lunar Chronicles.

fall tag 6

The Defiant Hero (Troubleshooters, #2)

The Defiant Hero by Suzanne Brockmann

This cover screams Fall to me. I love the oranges, reds, and yellows. Man, I love Fall!!

fall tag 3

Glass Sword (Red Queen, #2)

Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard

This book was non stop action!! I loved every single page in this book. It was a page turner for sure.

fall tag 4

A Court of Thorns and Roses #4 by Sarah J Maas

Hands down, no brainer, ACOTAR 4 is the book I would choose!! I cannot wait to see where this series goes. I really hope this one follows Cassian!!!!! I love this world and never want it to end.

Another tag is in the books folks!! I loved doing this Fall themed book tag. It may be my favorite tag of the year lol! That’s how much I love Fall. Thanks for checking out my answers and if you want to do this tag……consider yourself officially tagged!!!

These are in no particular order.

Raisinets

Marshmallow Pumpkin Latte

38247726231_b852653187_z

This is from Bath and Body Works but because it’s sold out I don’t have a link to it. I’m IN LOVE with this scent. I get headaches easily but this is very subtle and doesn’t give me one luckily. I hope they don’t ever stop selling it.

Mixed Berry Muffins

38246743681_d5ac639e8e_z

This is a muffin mix I picked up from Walmart. It’s very reasonably priced and makes 6 larger muffins or several minis. (I made two batches here) They have a few different flavors too. My favorite is the chocolate chip kind. I made the mixed berry flavor because it gave me Fall vibes. Super easy to make, you just add a 1/2 cup of milk OR water and bam!

Apple Watch: Series 1

My brother got his Apple watch awhile ago but found he wasn’t using it. Soooooo, he gave it to me!! GASP!!!! *dances* I can’t believe what this watch can do. It’s amazing how far technology has come. This is a Series 1 Apple watch, you can find it here.

The Brave is a new series that aired this Fall. I really enjoy it and look forward to it each week. Mom just recently came back on air and it’s soo funny. The cast is amazing and it just picks me up every episode.

Pick my next read!

Random Ramblings

Hey guys!!! I thought it would be fun for you to help pick out my next read!! These are books that I’ve been meaning to get to but haven’t. I’ll leave their synopsis and a link to their GR for you to check out before voting. Thank you all for your help!!

The Kiss of Deception:

The Kiss of Deception (The Remnant Chronicles, #1)

*This is book one in the Remnant Chronicles*

Kelsea Glynn is the Queen of the Tearling. Despite her youth, she has quickly asserted herself as a fair, just and powerful ruler.

However, power is a double-edged sword, and small actions can have grave consequences. In trying to do what is right – stopping a vile trade in humankind – Kelsea has crossed the Red Queen, a ruthless monarch whose rule is bound with dark magic and the spilling of blood. The Red Queen’s armies are poised to invade the Tearling, and it seems nothing can stop them.

The Invasion of the Tearling (The Queen of the Tearling, #2)
*This is book two in the Queen of the Tearling series*

Kelsea Glynn is the Queen of the Tearling. Despite her youth, she has quickly asserted herself as a fair, just and powerful ruler.

However, power is a double-edged sword, and small actions can have grave consequences. In trying to do what is right – stopping a vile trade in humankind – Kelsea has crossed the Red Queen, a ruthless monarch whose rule is bound with dark magic and the spilling of blood. The Red Queen’s armies are poised to invade the Tearling, and it seems nothing can stop them.

Warrior Witch:

Warrior Witch (The Malediction Trilogy, #3)

*This is book three in the Malediction Trilogy*

*Omitting because of spoilers to the previous books.*

Ice like fire:

Ice Like Fire (Snow Like Ashes, #2)

*This is book two in the Snow like ashes trilogy*

*Omitting because of spoilers to the previous book.*

The Rise:

The Rise (The Originals, #1)

*This is book one in the Originals trilogy*

Family is power. The Original vampire family swore it to each other a thousand years ago. They pledged to remain together always and forever. But even when you’re immortal, promises are hard to keep.

I tried to add several polls and they would show up but when I scheduled them, the option to select a book went away. Ridiculous right?! Sooo, you’ll have to just comment below which book you’re voting for me to read next.

Also, I’m having alignment issues throughout this post as well as other posts I’m working on. WordPress, what is going on???

All that aside, thank you all for helping me pick out my next read. I hope I enjoy whichever book wins!! Wish me luck!!!

Ice Cream Sundae Book Tag

38018909451_96f60f23d7_z

Nicole (Boundless Bookaholic) and I thought it would be fun to come up with a book tag together. We brainstormed several ideas and came up with an ice cream sundae theme. It was so much fun picking out toppings and ingredients to add to our sundae. We hope you all enjoy what we came up with 🙂

 Ice Cream Sundae

A book with squad goals.

A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #2)

Hands down, The Night Court in A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas is squad goals. I NEED to be a part of this group. Although I’d have to find a way to turn fae *hmm*. Maybe Rhysand can figure it out 🙂

Ice Cream

A favorite book that’s first in a series.

The Deal (Off-Campus, #1)

Another no brainer for me. I LOVEEEDDDD this book sooo much. Garrett was just amazing. This was my favorite in the Off Campus series.

Caramel Sauce

A character who gets into a sticky situation.

Twisted Palace (The Royals, #3)

Reed found himself in a very sticky situation in Twisted Palace. You’ll have to read the first two Royal books to find out what that situation was!!

Chocolate Sauce

A book with rich world building.

Shadow and Bone (Grisha Verse, #1)

I really enjoyed the Grisha world that Leigh Bardugo came up with. The world stayed with me long after the series was over.

Whipped Cream

A book that whipped up the feels.

Lover Awakened (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #3)

This story caught me so off guard. I wasn’t expecting it to bring the feels like it did. MANNNN, did it wreck me. Read this and feel the feels ❤

Nuts

A character who has a tough exterior.
Six of Crows (Six of Crows, #1)

Kaz Brekker. Kaz rarely lets anyone in. He always has his guard up and ready for whatever comes his way. Consider yourself lucky if Kaz trusts you enough to share his secrets and past.

Sprinkles

A book with multiple POVs.

Winter (The Lunar Chronicles, #4)

The Lunar Chronicles was such a great series. The characters were so memorable and you couldn’t help but root for every single one of them. (except the villains of course)

Cherry on top

A book with a red hot romance or a fiery character.

Scoring Wilder

HOT, HOT, HOT. 3 words to describe this book lol!!

And that’s another tag for the books!! I hope you all enjoyed this and I tag every one of you reading this. Thank you Nicole for doing this collab with me. I had so much fun and can’t wait to see what else we will come up with in the future.

Star Studded Saturday | 12

Star Studded Saturday

This week’s theme is: Movie Reviews

In the Heart of the Sea Poster

Synopsis:

In 1820, crewmen (Chris Hemsworth, Benjamin Walker, Cillian Murphy) aboard the New England vessel Essex face a harrowing battle for survival when a whale of mammoth size and strength attacks with force, crippling their ship and leaving them adrift in the ocean. Pushed to their limits and facing storms, starvation, panic and despair, the survivors must resort to the unthinkable to stay alive. Their incredible tale ultimately inspires author Herman Melville to write “Moby-Dick.”

Review:

Wow! This one was intense. It’s one of those movies where you don’t know how you feel afterwards. I enjoyed it although it was quite long at 2 hours. It was also pretty deep, definitely not a gooey, feel good type of movie. The acting was really well and the story was interesting. Overall I’d give it 3-3.5 stars.

Paper Towns Poster

Synopsis:

Young and shy Quentin (Nat Wolff) is in for the night of his life when Margo (Cara Delevingne), the most popular student in high school, recruits him to help her play mischievous pranks on the friends who betrayed her. The next day, however, the mysterious Margo is nowhere to be found. With help from a few buddies and some cryptic clues that she left behind, Quentin embarks on an obsessive mission to find the girl who stole his heart and made him feel truly alive.

Review:

Why did I watch this when I didn’t like the book whatsoever you may ask? Regardless of how I felt about the book, it’s awesome to see something you’ve read being brought to life. It’s cool to see how it’s played out. Ultimately, I quit this an hour into it. I just couldn’t watch anymore. I felt it was very boring and just wasn’t feeling it. Sounds similar to my experience with the book although I finished that one. I gave it a 1 star…..

Vacation Poster

Synopsis:

Remembering fond, childhood memories of his trip to Walley World, Rusty Griswold (Ed Helms) surprises his wife (Christina Applegate) and two sons with a cross-country excursion to America’s favorite fun park. Following in his father’s (Chevy Chase) footsteps, Rusty and the gang pack up the car and hit the road for some much-needed family bonding. Soon, the promise of fun turns into one misadventure after another for the next generation of Griswolds and anyone who encounters them.

Review:

What in the world did I just watch?? lol! I mainly picked this up because Chris Hemsworth was in it…..It had funny moments but overall, it wasn’t that great of a movie. I didn’t see the original, National Lampoon’s Vacation, so maybe that’s why I didn’t enjoy it that much??

Just realized I watched two movies with Chris Hemsworth this go-round. I guess I’m in a Hemsworth mood lol. ((I mean, who isn’t??? )) Overall, I haven’t had the best experience with movies here lately. I did enjoy “In the heart of the sea“, but it wasn’t a favorite. Better luck next time folks!!

First Lines Friday | 2

First Lines Friday

First Lines Friday is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words.

What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?

  • Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
  • Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
  • Finally… reveal the book!

Today was the day a thousand dreams would die and a single dream would be born.

The wind knew. It was the first of June, but cold gusts bit at the hilltop citadelle as fiercely as deepest winter, shaking the windows with curses and winding through drafty halls with warning whispers. There was no escaping what was to come.

Ready for the Reveal!?!?!

Arrow

The Kiss of Deception (The Remnant Chronicles, #1)

The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson  is a series I’ve been looking forward to reading for a really long time now. The whole thing with book one is figuring out who is friend and who is foe. Sadly, I was spoiled to which is which person. It totally ruined my excitement for reading KoD. I’ve tried to forget the spoiler but it’s sticking to me like glue. I’m told it’s still a great series regardless of knowing what I know BUT I still wish I was able to experience it like everyone else did.

Have you read this one?! Did you finish the series?! What’d you think!? Let me know your spoiler free comments below!!
