The Candy Book Tag

Book Tag

The Candy Book Tag is a book blog tag started by Samantha @ Bookish Serendipity. Not sure if she is still blogging but wanted to give credit regardless.

With today being Halloween, I thought it would be fun to do a candy related book tag. I searched around the Internet and found this one. Hope you enjoy!

Ah. Healthy food. It’s deep, meaningful, and won a lot of awards but, um, isn’t really your thing.
The Hating Game
The Hating Game by Sally Thorne. I’ve heard so many people rave about this…..and I just didn’t feel that way about it. It was okay but not earth shattering :\ SORRY!

A book you’d recommend to absolutely EVERYONE.
The Wrath and the Dawn (The Wrath and the Dawn, #1)
The Wrath and The Dawn by Renee Ahdieh.  This book has romance, fantasy, a kick butt heroine, is a retelling, and so much more. It’s a great story that I think everyone can appreciate.

Why do these exist??
Own the Wind (Chaos, #1)
Own the Wind by Kristen Ashley. This was soooo bad you guys. I just couldn’t with this one. This isn’t an alpha male, this is a jerk who needs a reality check. Calling women names, refusing to clean up after himself, manhandling women, threatening his girlfriend’s boss because he was giving her a hard time, etc. I could go on for days about this book but I won’t.

Aww! This book has the best romance.
The Longest Ride
The Longest Ride by Nicholas Sparks. This book… guys……just read it. So beautiful!

Gummy Spiders

Eek! You made sure to check under your bed every night for a week after reading this scary one.

IT by Stephen King. Nope, nope, nope! I refuse to even put the book cover on here.

This book took forever to get through, but hey! You did it!
Winter (The Lunar Chronicles, #4)
Winter by Marissa Meyer. This was my first read of 2016. I felt I would never finish it lol. It has 827 pages and I gave it 5 stars!

Admit it, you loved this when you were younger.
Too Many Jellybeans by Kate Gleeson. I loved this book as a child and still have it actually!! I thought it would be fun to mention because it involves candy!!

La maison
I hope everyone has a safe and happy Halloween!! Eat all the candy and save me some too!!
((P.S. Sorry for the weird layout. Not sure why it’s doing this but I hope it’s fixed by my next post…UGH))

Star Studded Saturday

This week’s theme is: Fall TV Pilot Reviews

This week I will be discussing more TV show pilots that aired this Fall. It turns out that I’ll need 3 parts just to fit in all my reviews. EEK!

SEAL Team Poster

Seal Team: Debuted on September 27th on CBS

Seal Team is a military drama the follows members of the team on the job and in their personal lives. I enjoy military shows so this seems like a great addition to my TV lineup.

I love when actors from other shows pop up onto another one. Daniel Gillies from The Originals had an appearance on the pilot episode and I was very excited to see him. I really enjoyed the action in this one. I look forward to seeing more episodes!

Verdict: It’s a keeper.

The Brave Poster

The Brave: Debuted on September 25th on NBC

Another military show, woot woot!!! It’s my lucky year! I think military dramas are the theme of this year’s debuts. This one is about a Special Ops group led by Captain Adam Dalton. I must say, I have quite the crush on Adam already *fans self*.

This episode BLEW ME AWAY. I liked it even more than I did Seal Team. It was so intense and had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. It was put together very well and I cannot wait for episode 2. I also really enjoyed the cast. They each bring something amazing to the table.

Verdict: It’s a keeper.

Young Sheldon Poster

Young Sheldon: Debuted on September 25th on CBS

I love me some Big Bang Theory. I binged that series here recently and fell in love quickly. Sheldon is actually my favorite character on the show. When I heard they were doing a spin off with a younger Sheldon…..I was a bit apprehensive. Could they do it justice? Would it be just as funny without Jim Parsons??

The answer is yes! I adored this pilot episode. Young Sheldon was the cutest and just as sassy as Older Sheldon. I am a bit upset that they debuted the pilot on September 25th and the next episode isn’t until November 2nd……..Doesn’t seem very smart because the viewers lose interest quickly.

Verdict: It’s a keeper.

Me, Myself and I Poster

Me, Myself, and I: Debuted on September 25th on CBS

Me, Myself, and I is a series about one guy named Bobby Moynihan. We see him in three different life stages throughout the episode. Altogether we see Bobby as a 14 year old, a 40 year old, and lastly a 65 year old. I thought this was a nice twist that I don’t remember seeing before.

At this point, I didn’t even want to like this show. I was overwhelmed by the amount of new shows I decided to try PLUS trying to keep up with all my older shows that were returning. However, I couldn’t help but enjoy this episode. It had a nice motivational message to it that I wasn’t expecting.

Verdict: Try another episode and decide.

Stay tuned next Saturday as I wrap up my reviews for the Fall debut series. I can’t believe I’m adding so many shows to my lineup. I really didn’t see myself enjoying as many as I have so far.

What shows have you picked up this Fall?? Did you try any that you didn’t click with? Let me know in the comments below!

Book Blogger Hop | Oct. 27th – Nov. 2nd

Book Blogger Hop

Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer, where you answer a bookish question and join a “hop”. The purpose is to help bloggers discover and get to know one another. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end on Thursday.

This week’s question: Candy Corn, a chocolate bar, or Popcorn. Which of these snacks are your favorite to eat while reading? (submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)

I’ll go with popcorn!! It’s light and easy to eat plus it’s not something you have to pay full attention to. Although, the buttery fingers may be an issue while eating. Hmm, maybe keep a wet paper towel nearby?!

My actual favorite snack to enjoy while reading would have to be either Fruit Roll Ups or chocolate covered raisins. The chocolate doesn’t melt on my fingers/hands and the fruit roll up doesn’t cause any residue. WIN-WIN!!

What’s your favorite snack while reading?! Is it one of the snacks mentioned above?! Candy corn, a chocolate bar, or popcorn?!  Let me know in the comments below!! If you did this week’s Blogger Hop, leave a link below for me to check out!!

The Reader Problems Book Tag

Book Tag

I was unofficially tagged to do this by Danielle at The Introverted Book Nerd. Thanks Dani!! ❤

Now onto the questions:

You have 20,000 books on your TBR. How in the world do you decide what to read next?

I’m a mood reader so the amount of books I need to read doesn’t affect what I pick up. I usually decide what genre I’m in the mood for, then I’ll start going through my bookshelves to see what stands out to me.

You’re halfway through a book and you’re just not loving it. Do you quit or are you committed?

It depends on how far I am into the book. If I’m at 20%, chances are I won’t quit. Then again, if i’m at 60%….I think “you don’t have that much further so just keep going”. It’s really hard for me to stop reading a book. I’ll go with if I’m 75-80 pages in and still not feeling it and haven’t been…..time to drop it.

The end of the year is coming and you’re so close, but so far away on your Goodreads reading challenge. Do you try and catch up and how?

This year was the year I was going to read 100 books. Did it happen!? Nope, sure didn’t. I put so much pressure on myself to read 100 books that I wasn’t enjoying reading at all. SO what I did was lowered my goal to 60 and called it a day. Next year my goal will be 12, one per month. I do better when I’m not pressuring myself.

The covers of a series do. not. match. How do you cope?

This is a controversial question…….I do like my covers to match. I’m not a millionaire to where I can continuously re-buy series over and over. Chances are, if you change on book 3 of 3 for example , then I won’t buy the new covers. Realistically, I’ll get rid of the other 2 and just read the last book at my library.

Everyone and their mother loves a book you don’t really like. Who do you bond with over shared feelings?

There has got to be someone out there in the Twitter world who agrees with me lol!!! Surely not everyone loves “said” book.

You’re reading a book and you are about to start crying in public. How do you deal?

I do this thing where if I’m about to cry or getting embarrassed (I turn MAROON, it’s so embarrassing) I will start saying the alphabet. If it’s not working I’ll start saying each letter and then think of words that start with that letter. A-apple, astronaut, apricot, etc. It sounds really stupid but it works for me!!

A sequel of a book you loved just came out, but you’ve forgotten a lot from the prior novel. Will you re-read the book? Skip the sequel? Try to find a synopsis on Goodreads? Cry in frustration?!?!?!?

I’m in this predicament right now….it sucks. Who wants to keep re reading series every year just to remember what happens?! I need to start doing more detailed reviews and reviewing everything I read so I don’t have to do this. Currently I want to read The Black Key by Amy Ewing. Do I remember what happened in books one and two?! NOPE!! Do I want to re-read them?! Not really. And that’s why I haven’t read The Black Key yet lol!!

You do not want anyone. ANYONE. borrowing your books. How do you politely tell people nope when they ask?

Just be honest. You’ve had bad experiences with someone messing up a book you let them borrow or that you don’t feel comfortable lending your books out. You could always go with them to the library to pick up the book or maybe get it for them for their birthday? It doesn’t have to be a controversial thing, just be honest and kind about it.

Reading ADD. You’ve picked up and put down 5 books in the last month. How do you get over your reading slump?

I basically stop reading. Usually when I get this way it’s because I’m reading too much and not focusing on other hobbies. I love watching TV so I need to balance the two hobbies.

There are so many new books coming out that you’re dying to read! How many do you actually buy?

I usually only buy from authors that I LOVE and have read several books by. Of course, there are those times when you just want to buy a new book by a new author and that’s okay too. Just try to budget your money and see if your budget allows for a purchase. Don’t forget your library may have a copy and it’s FREEEEEEE.

After you’ve bought the books you can’t wait to get to, how long do they sit on your shelf before you get to them?

Ouch. So…..I have books that I read as soon as I buy them and others…….well, others stay there for AWHILE. It’s really dumb when I think of those books I just “had to have” and there they sit day after day being un read.

I hope you enjoyed learning about my reading problems! I liked the questions and seeing what everyone put down for them. If you want to do this tag feel free!! You don’t have to be officially tagged ❤

Haunted Halloween Blog Hop | The Walking Dead Book Tag

A few friends of mine and I decided to put together a Halloween themed blog hop. Each day from October 22nd-31st, we will each have a blog post centered around Halloween. Be sure to check out each person’s post.

Here’s the schedule:

If you know me, you know I have a massive amount of love for The Walking Dead. I love the cast and characters so much. I thought it would be fun to come up with a Walking Dead book tag. I’m sure others have done this, being that the series is so popular but this is my own spin on things. I didn’t look at any other book tags so any similarities are purely coincidental. I hope you enjoy the questions I came up with. I wish I could include all the characters but that’s pretty much impossible lol!

*Huge thanks to Linda at Linda’s Little Library for helping me on the final touches for this tag. Thanks so much girlie, us walking dead fans have to stick together.*

Disclaimer: Some of the prompts may be spoiler-y if you aren’t caught up on the series. I’m sure you’ve seen the ones below already but just a heads up!

A book with a strong leader.

Kaz from Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo reminds me of a strong leader. He handles his team quite well and they respect him tremendously.

A book with a kick butt female.

Aelin from the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas. Aelin was so bada$$. She could definitely handle herself in any situation.

A character who doesn’t always think things through.

Jessica from Truth or Beard by Penny Reid. So many times I wanted to tell this girl to just slow down and THINK.

A character who you miss the most.

*spoiler alert*

Robb Stark from the Game of Thrones series by George RR Martin. Really wish he was still around 😦

A character whose suffered many losses and obstacles.

Cal from Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard. I won’t go into details because of spoilers.

Name a book character you want on your side during the apocalypse.

I don’t guess I can say Rick Grimes, can I?? If not, I’m going with Cassian from A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas. He’s my guy and I think he would be a great asset in such times.

A character whose gone through a major transformation.

Zsadist from Lover Awakened by JR Ward. I just love him so much now ❤

A character who would do anything to survive.

Dinah from the Royals series by Erin Watt. This girl is a scrapper and she will do whatever it takes to not only survive, but to come out on top.

A character who would sacrifice him/her self to save someone else.

Marc from Stolen Songbird by Danielle L. Jensen. I can definitely see him sacrificing himself for Penelope or any of his friends/family.

Name your all time favorite villain.

The Darkling from the Grisha series by Leigh Bardugo. YESSSS. I can’t get over him and probably never will.

I had a BLAST doing this tag!! It was so fun picking characters and their prompts. I hope you all enjoyed this! I tag each and every single blogger to do this one haha!! If you’re a fan of The Walking Dead, let me know in the comments below!!! Always excited to find more TWD lovers!!!

La maison

I hope everyone has a safe and fun Halloween!!! Good luck finding all the yummy candy!! Save me some Twix and Kit Kat bars!!!

Today I wanted to talk about Book Outlet. I found out about Book Outlet around January of 2016. They have some really great bargains and I wanted to share them with all of you.

This isn’t a sponsorship ad. I decided to do this on my own and only contacted Book Outlet for permission in using their logo/info for my post.

Being the best seller in bargain books is about more than providing great selection and fantastic value on new books. As amazing as a bounty of bargain books is, you can also expect an enjoyable shopping experience. Unlike big box retailers, Book Outlet can get a little more personal. We have great systems behind the scenes to make everything seamless and we are still small enough that you can get a live person on the phone when you need it.

When you call during business hours you will speak to a friendly, helpful person (hey, isn’t that a novel idea) and if we are away from our desk and you have to leave a message, we promise we will get back to you within four business hours. If you email, a real person will respond to your inquiry within eight business hours.

Our mission is to make your experience enjoyable and ultimately save you money. When you find yourself with a relatively unscathed wallet and eager to crack open some great new books, we know that you have enjoyed the shopping and the value.

Their Books:

Your book will always be new and in good condition. Since our books are publisher overstocks there may be very minor wear or bends to the book and this can be expected since some items may have been handled a few times, but most of our books are in great condition.

  • Usually there is a small black dot or slash on the top or bottom of the edges.

You have a choice between Bargain Books or Scratch and Dent.

Bargain Books: With over 50 categories to choose from, you will always find bargain books to be marked down 50-90% off the list price. Shop Bargain.

Scratch and Dent: The Scratch & Dent books may be showing some signs of handling, possible dents and scratches and may be missing a dust jacket but are just as structurally sound and completely readable. Shop Scratch & Dent.

  • I did purchase one Scratch and Dent where the cover photo was faded. You just don’t know what condition the cover and/or book will be in but will always be able to read the entire book without any hindrances.

Their Guarantee:

Should you receive any book that is a misprint, damaged beyond repair or for any reason structurally compromised, please send us pictures of the damages along with the title, damage description and the order number to and we will be happy to assist you further.

  • I have only had one issue with 10 orders. I received a book that the cover was slashed like it was on top of a box and a knife cut it when someone was opening the box. I sent an email and they sent a replacement copy right away. I didn’t have to pay additional charges or shipping fees.

Star Studded Saturday | 8

Star Studded Saturday

This week’s theme is: Fall TV Pilot Reviews

This week I will be discussing TV show pilots that aired this Fall. Some of these I loved while others…..I didn’t. Please know these are just my opinions and I mean no disrespect if these are your favorites. I really wish I loved them all but my DVR is glad that I didn’t lol.

Ghosted Poster

Ghosted-Debuted October 1st on Fox

This one was….a mess (sorry!!!). I don’t see this series lasting very long sadly. The story follows two guys, one is a former missing persons detective and the other believes his wife was abducted by aliens. They are recruited by an organization who investigates paranormal cases. In the pilot episode they are trying to find a member of the organization believed to be abducted.

While this has some funny moments, it just wasn’t enough for me to continue watching. I have too many other shows that I enjoy to make this a priority.

Verdict: Go

9JKL Poster

9JKL-Debuted October 2nd on CBS

This story follows Josh, a divorced actor, who moves back home to figure out his life. His parents have an apartment beside theirs that Josh moves into. Surprisingly Josh’s brother and family also live in an apartment beside the parents. This is where the title comes in. The three apartments are 9J, 9K, and 9L.

I LOVED seeing Sally Pressman from Army Wives. She’s such a great actress and I miss seeing her on TV. I really didn’t enjoy the fake audience laughter though, it over shadowed every funny moment.

Verdict: Try another episode and decide.

The Mayor Poster

The Mayor-Debuted October 3rd on ABC

The show is about a rapper, Courtney Rose, who runs for Mayor to promote his rap album. Surprisingly, Courtney wins the election. Now he must decide whether or not to take the job seriously or quit. After all, his music career is still his main passion.

First off, I LOVEEEE Yvette Nicole Brown!! She’s a huge fan of The Walking Dead so I’ve seen her on The Talking Dead and on Twitter. Yvette is hilarious so putting her on a TV show sounds perfect.

Verdict: Try another episode and decide.

Ten Days in the Valley Poster

10 Days in the Valley-Debuted October 1st on ABC

This show is about a TV producer, Jane Sadler, whose daughter goes missing. Everyone is a suspect and Jane doesn’t know who to trust. Did I mention Jane writes cop dramas and has a show coming out? The synopsis says the line between her personal life and the show blurs more than ever. DUN DUN DUN!!!

I loved seeing Emily Kinney (aka Beth) from The Walking Dead on here. So happy she found a new TV series and I hope it lasts a long time. Show wise, it was very mysterious. I love reading mystery/thriller books so this is right up my alley. I suspect EVERYONE, just like I do when reading these types of books lol!! I can’t wait to see how this show plays out.

Verdict: It’s a keeper!

I was going to try to fit all my new Fall TV shows on here but alas, there’s too many. I’ll split this into a few parts and have part two up next Saturday. Stay tuned to see my thoughts on the rest of my debut TV series.

The Anything but Books Tag

Book Tag

I saw this tag floating around and decided to join in on the fun!! This tag was created by Katie at Reador Rot. I hope you enjoy the questions and answers!

1. Name a cartoon(s) that you love

Tom and Jerry!! This show was so adorable and I find myself introducing it to kids all the time! Kids these days missed all the good shows lol!!

2. What is your favorite song right now?

My current favorite song would have to be Demi Lovato – Sorry Not Sorry. I’m sure it’s outdated by now but I’m not up to date on songs as they come out. #ImOld

3. What could you do for hours (that isn’t reading)?

Watch TV. I’m such a huge fan of Television shows. I wish I could juggle TV shows, reading, and blogging. It’s not easy friends!

4. What is something you love to do that your followers would be surprised by?

Playing The Sims 4. I’ve been a fan of The Sims for many, many years. I started when I was younger and haven’t stopped 🙂

5. What is your favorite thing to learn about?

I love to bake so I enjoy learning new dessert recipes.

6. What is something unusual you know how to do?

I can twist my tongue vertically. I’m talented right?! lol!!

7. Name something you’ve made in the last year (and show us, if you can).

Umm, I made a blog! TADAAAAAAAA!!! lol!

8. What is your most recent personal project?

I joined a Bible Study class at my church to learn how to better study the Bible. I always feel overwhelmed trying to read/study the Bible. It’s hard to know where to start.

9. Tell us something you think about often (maybe while staring out of windows).

What don’t I think about? I’m a worrier so I’m constantly thinking about what if scenarios. It’s quite exhausting but I’m better than I used to be about it.

10. Tell us something that’s your favorite, but make it something oddly specific. (not like your favorite food, but like your favorite food when you’ve been studying for hours and forgot to eat etc.)

One of my family members has a hot tub so when I go over there we make what we call “The Hot Tub special”. Which is brownies, ice cream, and whipped cream! It’s fun to get in when it’s cold outside, so you’re warm from the water but eating ice cream in the winter lol!!

11. Say the first thing that pops into your head.

Hakuna Matata!
What a wonderful phrase!

No idea where that came from but you’re welcome!
