Star Studded Saturday

This week’s theme is: Movie Reviews

Table 19 Poster

Table 19 was interesting. Anna Kendrick is a bit of a hit or miss with her movies. I really like her but I feel she signs on to do EVERY movie that comes her way. She’s a great actress and singer so I feel she could be a bit picker with her roles. Table 19 is about Eloise who was dumped by her best friend’s brother. The time comes for her bestie to get married but Eloise is torn. Does she attend or not?! She finally decides to go and there she meets an eclectic group of people at the “randoms” table. The movie started out pretty slow. I almost turned it off but decided to keep going. Several times Anna Kendrick was talking so fast that I couldn’t even understand what she was saying. The movie did pick up and I enjoyed it overall. If I had to rate it on a 5 star scale, I’d give it 3.5 🙂

Gifted Poster

Here’s the deal, I had a lot going on and watched this while exhausted and distracted. HOWEVER, with all of that, this was still a wonderful movie. It brought the tears/feels for sure. Chris Evans amazes me with his acting skills as well as the little girl McKenna Grace. I really felt they were Uncle and Niece as strange as that may sound. I don’t want to tell you the synopsis because of spoilers but basically the child is a genius. The Uncle wants her to stay a child and not be in an adult setting and miss out on her childhood. That’s basically all you need to know going in. Overall I would give this 4 stars but honestly, if I wasn’t distracted I KNOW this would’ve been a 5 stars for me. It also has another one of my favorite actresses, Octavia Spencer.

Baywatch Poster

Baywatch was okay…..First thing, it was 2 hrs long. This movie did NOT need to be 2 hours long. I also feel like the movie could’ve been just as funny without having to show naked body parts. It honestly added nothing to the movie. I’m not a prude but it just felt like such a gimmick. “We put a man’s junk in our movie woot woot!!”….yeah okay….congrats?!?!

The cast was stacked with eye candy. I feel like Zac Efron got TOO beefy though. I mean, “you do you” but it was a bit much for me. I also couldn’t help noticing how gorgeous Stephanie was. She was soooo beautiful! I looked up the actress and her name was Ilfenesh HaderaIlfenesh was a great actress and I hope to see her in more and more movies! Overall, I would give Baywatch a 3 star rating. It had funny moments but was way too long.

Those are my most recent movies that I’ve watched. What have you watched recently?! Did you see any of the ones I mentioned? Let me know in the comments below!! Have a great day!

WWW Wednesday

The WWW Wednesday meme is currently hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words. It’s a great way to do a weekly update on what you’ve been reading and what you plan to read next.

The Three Ws are:

  1. What are you currently reading?

  3. What do you think you’ll read next?

Currently Reading:

Royally Matched (Royally, #2)

The first book in the series, Royally Screwed, wasn’t a home run for me but I still enjoyed it. I can’t wait to read more from Henry’s point of view. Hopefully I like this one more than the first. Fingers crossed!

Recently Finished:

Roar (Stormheart, #1)

This one was okay but felt too long for me. I posted a review on Monday so you can read all my thoughts there! (or click here)

Reading Next:

Real (Real, #1)

I’m finally reading a book by Katy Evans!! I couldn’t be more excited!! Plus it’s a sports romance so I’m pretty much guaranteed to love it! What’s your favorite Katy Evans book!? Let me know below!

If you participated in WWW Wednesday, share your link in the comments below for me to check out!! Thanks everyone, have a great day!

Roar by Cora Carmack Review

Roar (Stormheart, #1)

Roar by Cora Carmack

2.5 Stars

Characters:

Aurora- You never knew who you were getting with Aurora. Would it be Aurora, Rora, or Roar?! (you’ll see if you read it)

Nova- Nova was the superstar in my eyes. I wanted more of her and less of everyone else lol!!

Locke- Locke had great potential but felt kind of “meh” at times.

Cassius- Am I supposed to be swooning over him? Because……..it’s not happening

Quotes:

“And I am here with you. If you have questions, ask them. If you have fears, shed them. If you have doubts, give them to me and I will crush them beneath my heel. If you need help, I will provide it. Even if you only need someone to yell at, I can be that too. And when the time comes that you need someone to trust, I will be that person. I promise.”

^ this quote had me swooning guys. Hope my future husband puts this in our vows lol.

Overall:

This felt like one big prequel for the next book. The font was ridiculously tiny and the book was still 378 pages. Each time I read this for any significant amount of time, it would result in a headache or migraine. They should’ve made this a thicker book with larger font or cut down the pages.

As I said, this felt like a prequel and that everything that happened was just a set up for book two. If felt like too much was going on but at the same time that nothing was going on. How is that possible you may ask? Well, we had several characters, several towns/places, we had to learn an entire new vocabulary/terms/background to go with this unique story line, etc. BUT at the same time we were in this traveling scene for most of the book.

I did love the uniqueness to the plot. It was original and very interesting. I think it could’ve been executed a bit better but overall, it was nice to see new stories. This book had tendencies of feeling like information overload. We had so much to learn because we were starting with such an original story. I kept thinking “let’s get going already!”.

If you know me, you know i’m a huge romance lover. I love reading romance in my books, whether it’s the main focus or just a subtle addition. I wasn’t feeling it in this one. I didn’t feel the connection between the two characters like I knew I was supposed to. I had no one to root for because I honestly didn’t see any of the characters as a potential couple. What romance did occur was very lackluster in my opinion. It felt forced and disingenuous.

Overall, this had a great base. I was very intrigued to learn more and the ending made me want to continue BUT it’s hard to love a book when you only love the idea of what it COULD be.

If you’ve read the book, let me know what you thought in the comments below. No spoilers please.

Toughhhhh questions. Sometimes those bad boys just draw you in. UGH I can’t decide!! I do love me some Superman though. *runs away from question*

A Book I Want Everyone to Read

Lately that would be Scoring Wilder by R.S. Grey but only if you like romances/sexy times.

Recommend an Underrated Book

The Iron King by Julie Kagawa. I hardly ever hear anything about this book. It was really interesting and I enjoyed the fae as usual!

Fictional Worlds! Preferably with me dating a handsome knight or prince!

Audiobooks – Yes or No?

No, I can’t concentrate with audio books 😦 Really wish I could!

Ever Judge a Book by its Cover?

Yes, if it’s really bad then I probably won’t pick it up. Although I’ve picked up books with great covers that turned out horrible.

Book to Movie or Book to TV Adaptations?

Depends. If it’s a series then I prefer a TV series.

A Movie or TV Show I Preferred to its Book

Divergent, but I blame Theo James on that lol!

Library Haul | 1

A5XDF5-w.jpg

I forgot about Roar by Cora Carmack when I took this picture. That’s my current read so I didn’t remember it until after the photo was taken. Oops!

I didn’t want to get a lot of books so I ju……….WHO am I kidding?! I did get a lot of books. I also got 8 DVDs. I’ve officially lost it. I know I won’t read half of these or watch half my movies but I always have the best of intentions lol. Real is from Interloan request so I know I’ll read that one. The rest…..I’ll just have to play it by ear and see how it goes.

I’m excited about all of these books for various reasons. I keep checking them all out and then bringing them back right before they’re due. I need to make more of an effort to read what I check out.

The mountain between us is an upcoming movie starring Idris Elba and Kate Winslet. It will be in theaters on October 6th in the USA. It looked really good so I’m going to try to read the book before I watch the movie. I wanted to do this with Light between oceans but I have yet to read that one either. I need everyone to stop releasing new books for a year and MAYBE I could make a dent into my TBR pile.

Have you read any of these books?! How were they?! Let me know in the comments below! Thanks for checking out my library haul. Have a great day!!

Top Ten Tuesday |Fall TBR

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

This week’s theme is: Top Ten Books On My Fall TBR List

Tower of Dawn (Throne of Glass, #6)

I can’t wait to read the latest installment in the Throne of Glass series. Please don’t disappoint me book!

Before She Ignites (Fallen Isles Trilogy, #1)

I have yet to read a book by Jodi Meadows but i’m excited to try her out 🙂 Hopefully my library purchases this one!!

Three Dark Crowns (Three Dark Crowns, #1)

I think the sequel One Dark Throne comes out on September 19th so I need to catch up on the series. The cover gives me fall vibes, which I love!

An Ember in the Ashes (An Ember in the Ashes, #1)

Ember also gives me fall vibes so i’m excited to read this one hopefully this Fall!

King's Cage (Red Queen, #3)

I’m finally going to read it folks. I’ve wanted to read this since it came out but just couldn’t. The spacing between books is just too much for me to handle lol!! I can’t wait to see what happens and look forward to the final book, War Storm, in May 2018.

The Invasion of the Tearling (The Queen of the Tearling, #2)

I was spoiled on something that happens in this book so i’m trying to leave enough time for me to forget what that spoiler was. I think I’ve forgotten (trying not to think about it) so it’s time to start this read!! I loved the first book so hopefully this one is just as great.

The Light Between Oceans

My sister in law and grandmother RAVED about this book. I really want to read it but haven’t found the time. I found this book at my local bookstore for $5 in the hardcover so I grabbed it. No excuses not to read it now!

The Rose & the Dagger (The Wrath and the Dawn, #2)

I seem to be having issues continuing series that I’m really loving. Strange right?! I think I just never want the series to end so if I don’t read it…..then technically it’s not over lol.

The Kiss of Deception (The Remnant Chronicles, #1)

I was also spoiled to this series too. The whole plot in book one is trying to figure out who the good guy is, and who the bad guy is. Well guess what….I know which is which :((( I’m super bummed to know this before reading it but what can you do?! I was told it wouldn’t take away from the series overall, but still wish I had the chance to discover the guys identity on my own.

Crooked Kingdom (Six of Crows, #2)

Guess what……..I know something that happens in this one too. I can’t win guys. Social media has so many pros and cons to it. The major con being, if you don’t read a book right as it’s released, you are doomed to be spoiled. I think it’s time to finally read this one and figure out what the deal is with waffles and this book lol!!

There are my top 10 books to read this Fall. Super excited to read all these and I hope I love them all as much as others have seemed to. Are any of these on your list too?! Let me know!!

Scoring Wilder by R.S. Grey Review

Scoring Wilder

Scoring Wilder by R.S. Grey

5 glorious stars!

Characters:

Kinsley: Looveeee this girl. Can she be my bestie please?

Liam: Can I have Liam under the Christmas tree this year please Santa?!

Becca: Becca was soo funny. I loved seeing her come out of her shell and experience different things.

Quotes:

“She believed she could, so she did.”

“He bent down so I could hear him over the music. “What are you doing here?” he asked with a hard tone.

Okay. Not the best first line. Something like, you look beautiful, have my babies would have been a little bit better.”

“I know what it means to value the person you’re with.”

“When I was with him, there were no consequences”

Overall:

I’m obsessed!!!! You guys, this book was AMAZING!! This is the first book I’ve read by R.S Grey but I GUARANTEE you it will not be my last. GAHH! I have so many feels after finishing this!! I cannot even form a coherent sentence. I literally feel like I could start over on page 1 right this second. The relationships, the friendships, the team work, the romance, etc.  was just perfect. Everything flowed so smoothly that I didn’t want to put it down (stupid eyes making me take breaks!!!). Liam is such book boyfriend goals! He just shot to the top of the list folks. He’s caring, passionate, hardworking, and just such a sweetheart. You would think being top athletes would go to their heads but it truly didn’t. Liam and Kinsley are so down to earth. I feel like I could be besties with either one of them. Kinsley was my absolute favorite. Trust me that isn’t easy to say because this book is STACKED with awesome characters. I haven’t laughed this hard from a book in a very long time. I found myself grinning like a fool and laughing OUT LOUD more often than not. Kinsley’s kooky thoughts were along the lines of what I would think if I were in that position. She was such a delight to read. The friendships in this book were great as well. I always fear in romances that the friendships fizzle out as soon as a love interest pops up but that wasn’t the case here. Becca and Kinsley remained super close as well as Liam and Penn. Kinsley wasn’t about to put off her friendship just because she entered a relationship. I also loved how Liam cared for Becca too. He genuinely cared about her feelings and even went as far as to check up on her when a situation happened. I enjoy books where the boyfriend and the best friend get along. I truly cannot say enough about this book. I enjoyed every minute of it. I hope you all run out and pick up this book to see for yourself how amazing it was. This is going to the top of my Christmas list!!

P.S. I call dibs on Liam so don’t get any funny ideas about stealing him away!

Stacking the Shelves | 2

Stacking the shelves

Stacking the Shelves is a meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews where bloggers share what books they got throughout the week!

1z9udAFI

These are the books I got from Books a Million. They had a code for $10 off $50 so I went for it. I had to have the BAM edition of Tower of Dawn. The end pages are just…..breathtaking. I love them so much!! I hope they have one for the ACOTAR characters as well.

8PkASbpI
Aelin, Rowan, Nehemia, Manon, Dorian, and Chaol

I also picked up the newest covers for the Grisha trilogy. Man, these are gorgeous!! I love the new covers better than the old ones, whoops! They have this metallic shine to them that just makes the covers pop.

XptWXsS6

Hidden Huntress was the only book from the Malediction series that I didn’t have yet. So I grabbed it while I was there to complete my set.

Darkest flame is a part of Donna Grant’s Dark Kings series. I’ve been eyeing this series for awhile now so I’m excited to try it out. It’s about shapeshifters, which I haven’t read a book where it focuses solely on those before.

Melanie Scott has a sports series called New York Saints that I’ve always wanted to try. I’m obsessed with sports romances so this is a must read for me. I kept waiting on the first book to pop up on BookOutlet but I wasn’t having any luck with it so I just broke down and purchased it.

Those are the most recent books that I have added to my collection. What do you guys think!? Did I pick some good ones?! Have you read any of these?! Let me know in the comments below!
